Classroom Training

Our Facilitator will work with you to pass on the knowledge and skills required for this unit. A Learner Guide, Practical Activities that closely simulate a worksite and Class Discussions; will assist and support your learning. Knowledge and Practical Assessments are required.

Note: Asbestos training services are delivered by Training Momentum Pty Ltd trading as Scorpion Learning Centre under a Third-Party Agreement with Alert Force RTO 91826. Certificates are issued by Alert Force after all documentation has been submitted and course fees paid.

Course Overview 

Learn to safely plan and undertake the Supervision of asbestos removal works, anywhere in Australia. (All asbestos removal must be conducted by a Licenced entity - Class A or Class B)

This course applies, if you are Supervising removal of asbestos under a:

WorkSafe B Class Restricted Asbestos Licence      OR      A Class Unrestricted Asbestos Licence

This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to supervise the removal process for friable and non-friable asbestos containing material (ACM). The unit includes planning for and supervising the removal process, including preparing the work area and the work site, using safe and compliant removal practices, maintaining safety procedures, and supervising the decontamination and removal processes.

Ensuring compliance with the asbestos removal control plan (ARCP) is central to the effective performance of the role. This includes ensuring and documenting that required air monitoring and other testing and certification processes are conducted by licensed asbestos assessors according to legislation.

This unit is a requirement for all persons supervising asbestos removal workers in Australia.

The Construction Industry Training Fund CTIF have subsidies of up to 80% for eligible construction industry businesses and employees. Contact them on 9244 0100.

Course Structure

This Supervise Course includes training and information on:

  • Planning and preparing for asbestos removal
  • Safe Work Method Statements and Asbestos Removal Control Plans
  • Applying processes and risk management required for safe asbestos removal
  • Supervision of workers and processes in the removal of asbestos
  • Compliance and Health monitoring for asbestos workers
  • Application of WHS Legislation, compliance and responsibilities in the workplace

Site location for work may be either domestic or commercial, and may be a demolition site, a new work site or an existing structure being renovated, extended, restored or maintained. Project sites may be construction sites and may also include ships, soils and fences.

Regulatory Information

Asbestos removal licenses are required nationally.

Asbestos Work must be completed according to relevant legislation, the Code of Practice for the Safe Removal of Asbestos, industry guidelines, customer and organisational requirements, including work health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures.

This unit is required for all supervisors of the ACM removal process.

Asbestos Licence (Restricted Class B or Unrestricted Class A) 

An Unrestricted OR Restricted Asbestos Licence is required in Western Australia for the removal of materials that contain asbestos. 

  • Restricted B Class Asbestos Licence allows your company to remove amounts exceeding 10 square metres of bonded non-friable asbestos
  • Unresricted A Class Licence enables removal of all asbestos types - Friable & Non-friable

To be considered for an Restricted Asbestos Removal Licence, you must hold both of the units CPCCDE3014 Remove Non-friable Asbestos AND CPCCDE4008 Supervise Asbestos Removal AND demonstrate you have prior experience in removing asbestos.

Pre-requisites

The pre-requiste requirement for this course is to hold both:

  1. CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
  2. CPCCDE3014 Remove Non-friable Asbestos

If you do not have both of these, contact us immediately and we will arrange for you to attain these prior to your friable asbestos course.
